Corrections: Asamoah Gyan penalty miss and Isa deposit error
Corrections: Asamoah Gyan penalty and Isa deposit error

The Guardian has issued corrections for two significant errors in recent articles. The first concerns former Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan, who was incorrectly reported to have missed his penalty during the 2010 World Cup quarter-final shootout with Uruguay. In fact, Gyan missed a penalty in the final minute of extra time, not during the shootout. The error appeared in the article “Ghana’s heroes” on 23 June, page 43.

Isa deposit clarification

The second correction relates to an article about Individual Savings Accounts (Isas). The piece stated that savers can “hold” up to £20,000 a year in Isas, but the correct term is “deposit”. This error was in the article “First-time buyer Isas to have no upper age limit, Treasury says” on 24 June, page 10.

Other recently amended articles

Several other articles have also been corrected recently. These include pieces on Mamdani-backed candidates sweeping Democratic primaries in New York City; a review of “How to Live on Earth” featuring Benedict Cumberbatch; a report that about 400,000 UK children are supported by baby banks, up 11% on the previous year; a story about a reflecting pool being drained again as Trump claims five vandalism arrests; an article on Taiwan’s tallest trees; a review of the play “Landship”; and an analysis of Keir Starmer’s economic legacy.
