Coronation Street's Lucy Fallon: life with famous fiancé Ryan Ledson

Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany Platt, is engaged to professional footballer Ryan Ledson. The 30-year-old actress first appeared in Weatherfield as Bethany back in 2015.

On the ITV soap, Bethany is the daughter of Sarah Platt, played by Tina O'Brien, who is currently in prison after killing abuser Theo Silverton, portrayed by James Cartwright. While Sarah awaits her trial, Bethany has been living with her mum's ex-boyfriend, DC Kit Green, played by Jacob Roberts.

Bethany and Kit's complicated situation

Bethany and Kit have been helping to care for Sarah's young son, Harry, played by Joshua Leavy. Kit has also been dealing with his recent breast cancer diagnosis, with his chemotherapy treatment beginning this week.

The situation at Sarah's flat became complicated when Bethany and Kit had a one-night stand, which Jodie Ramsey, played by Olivia Frances Brown, later found out about. Consumed by guilt, especially since she is currently dating Ryan Connor, played by Ryan Prescott, Bethany vowed to keep the romp a secret from her mum.

Lucy Fallon's life away from the cobbles

The drama intensified on Tuesday, October 13, when it was revealed that Bethany is pregnant. Lucy is currently engaged to Ryan Ledson, who plays for League One team Huddersfield Town. The couple share two children, three-year-old Sonny and 21-month-old Nancy.

Lucy has candidly spoken about her past hospital stay at The Priory, which specialises in mental health treatment. Speaking on Johnny Seifert's Secure the Insecure podcast, the star said: "I was just at the absolute rock bottom that I've ever, ever felt. And I really, really, really struggled."

Bethany's pregnancy bombshell

She went on: "I had a really bad batch of mental health towards the end of 2020 and I ended up being in The Priory for about five weeks because my mental health was so bad. I couldn't see a way out of feeling how I was feeling."

Speaking after Bethany's baby bombshell on the cobbles, Lucy confirmed that Kit was indeed the father. Sharing her shock after learning about the twist, Lucy said: "When our producer Kate [Brooks] was telling me what was happening and then she said that she ends up being pregnant, my jaw was on the floor."

The star then discussed the prospect of a termination, saying: "Morally she's not totally against [it], that's not the person she is, but then it's a big decision to make and it's whether she feels like she would be able to go through with that. She's been through quite a lot of stuff herself, so whether she feels like she can go through with this I don't know."

Coronation Street airs weekday nights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
