Claudia Winkleman has confirmed that she will not return for a second series of her self-titled BBC talk show, admitting she was “too nervous to enjoy” the experience. The Claudia Winkleman Show, which debuted earlier this year on BBC One, featured celebrity interviews in front of a live studio audience but failed to secure a renewal.
Winkleman Cites Nerves as Reason for Departure
In a statement, Winkleman expressed gratitude to the BBC, her guests, and the production team, but explained that the format did not suit her. “Sometimes you have to try something to see how it fits, and I realised I was just too nervous to enjoy it,” she said. She left the door open for a possible future attempt, adding, “Maybe one day I will give it another try, but for now I already have the best jobs in the world and absolutely love the shows I’m doing.”
Show Filled Friday Night Slot on BBC One
The Claudia Winkleman Show occupied the Friday night time slot on BBC One between series of other programmes. It was produced by So Television, the company behind The Graham Norton Show. Guests included Jennifer Saunders, Dan Levy, Jeff Goldblum, Niall Horan, Rachel Zegler, Guz Khan, Joanne McNally, Cush Jumbo, Phil Dunster, and Josh Widdicombe.
BBC Director of Entertainment Praises Winkleman
Ed Havard, director of entertainment at the BBC, praised Winkleman’s contribution: “Claudia’s warmth and quick wit made The Claudia Winkleman Show an absolute joy. Whilst we loved the show, we fully respect her decision and would like to thank Claudia and the brilliant team at So Television for bringing the series to screen on the BBC.” He confirmed that Winkleman will return to the network later this year as host of The Celebrity Traitors, a spin-off of the hit series The Traitors.

Winkleman currently presents The Traitors and its celebrity edition. She stepped down from hosting Strictly Come Dancing after 15 years in December 2023. The Celebrity Traitors is expected to air later this year on BBC One.
