Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins is reportedly set to make her debut on a Channel 5 daytime show this week, temporarily stepping in to cover for host Matt Allwright. The move marks the first time the ITV newsreader will front a Channel 5 programme, according to industry sources.
Hawkins, who has been a regular on ITV's breakfast show, is expected to appear on Jeremy Vine's main programme the following week. A source told The Sun: "It's a great step for Charlotte and shows just how much she is valued at 5 and trusted to step in when needed." The source added: "She's a huge talent and there is lots of exciting things coming up for her. She's still got her ITV work but is very in demand and open to pushing herself."
Broadcasting Experience and Career Milestones
Hawkins brings substantial broadcasting experience to the role, having previously co-presented Sky's breakfast programme Sunrise alongside Eamonn Holmes before joining Good Morning Britain. She also hosts the podcast Leaps and Hounds, which focuses on canine behaviour and training, and presents a show on Classic FM. Despite a demanding schedule, she managed a short writing retreat last year, hinting that 2026 could be "the year of the book."
Charlotte has been married to Mark Herbert, 50, for 15 years. The couple wed on August 23, 2008, at Chichester Cathedral, the church of the bride's father. Their wedding was attended by close family and friends, including fellow television presenters Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes.
Future Plans and ITV Commitment
While Hawkins will appear on Channel 5 for the next two weeks, she is expected to remain in her role at Good Morning Britain and ITV. Wales Online has contacted her representatives for comment. Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
