A growing number of celebrities are turning away from weight loss injections and embracing a vegan lifestyle as part of the Veganuary challenge. The annual event, which began in the UK in 2014, encourages participants to adopt a vegan diet for the 31 days of January and has become a global movement.
Among the famous faces reportedly taking part this year are television presenter Kate Lawler and Coronation Street actor Victoria Ekanoye, alongside Stranger Things star Matthew Modine. Lawler, who gave up meat in 2017, said she wanted to 'explore more delicious plant-based foods' for a month. Modine highlighted the environmental benefits, stating that reducing meat consumption is a small step toward a more sustainable planet.
Other celebrities known for their vegan diets include singers Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande, and comedian Ricky Gervais. Eilish enforced a completely vegan food policy at venues during her 2025 tour, requiring all vendors to offer 100% plant-based options. Strictly Come Dancing 2025 winner Karen Carney also follows a plant-based diet, citing benefits for her physical and mental wellbeing as well as ethical and environmental concerns.
Veganuary continues to inspire millions globally to try a vegan lifestyle, with many celebrities using their platforms to promote the health and sustainability benefits of plant-based eating.
