Jess Wright has apologised after facing backlash over comments made on her podcast about women wearing thong bikinis. The former TOWIE star, 40, her mother Carol, 65, and sister Natalya, 25, were criticised for branding the swimwear 'unsexy' and 'degrading' during an episode of their podcast Wright At Home.
In the now-deleted clip, Jess said her husband Will 'cannot stand' thong bikinis, while Carol claimed her husband finds them 'unsexy'. Jess urged listeners to 'wear bigger coverage bikini bottoms', adding: 'Put it away and leave something to the imagination.' The remarks prompted a wave of criticism on social media, with many accusing the family of 'misogyny' and 'policing women's bodies'.
On Tuesday, Jess issued an apology on Instagram, which was also shared on Carol and Natalya's accounts. She wrote: 'In response to comments we made on our podcast. We've listened, we hear you and we want to say sorry… Our judgement was wrong and we take full accountability and will do better moving forward.'
The backlash included responses from influencers and listeners, with Michelle Elman stating: 'Wear your string bikini because I don't care if it's a nudist beach, what you wear is none of Will's business.' Another user, @NicoleGallagher, said: 'All power to the women who have the confidence to choose their style of bikini based on what they like and not insecurity.'
Jess, who is the older sister of TV star Mark Wright, married Will in Mallorca in 2021 and they have a son, Presley, born in 2022.
