Pop icon Britney Spears has used the festive season to launch a fresh, scathing attack on her family, following a Christmas spent with one of her two sons.
A Sarcastic Seasonal Greeting
The 44-year-old singer took to her Instagram page on Sunday, 28th December, to post a pointed message alongside an image of a decorated holiday tree. Her caption dripped with sarcasm as she addressed her estranged relatives.
"Merry late Christmas to my beautiful family who have never disrespected me, harmed me, ever done anything completely unacceptable or caused unbelievable trauma, the kind you can’t fix," she wrote.
Britney, who celebrated the holiday with her 19-year-old son Jayden, continued the barbed tone, adding: "To my dear sweet innocent family … so so sorry I was busy this Christmas but I will definitely show up and surprise you soon … I can’t wait."
Family Dynamics and Festive Plans
A source close to the situation told People magazine that Britney had a "fun" and "special" time with Jayden over Christmas. Her older son, 20-year-old Sean Preston, was reportedly unable to join them as he had to remain in Louisiana due to a work commitment. He instead spent the holidays with his aunt and grandmother.
In her Instagram post, Spears also sent a tender message to her seven-year-old niece, Ivey, writing: "Hello, beautiful Ivy … I just want to hold you, my love. Godspeed, friends."
This public airing of grievances is the latest chapter in the singer's long and difficult relationship with her family. This strain follows her release from a 13-year conservatorship that controlled her life and finances, which finally ended in November 2021.
Reports of a Potential UK Move
The Christmas drama coincides with significant reports about Britney's future. It is widely believed that the Baby One More Time hitmaker is seriously considering relocating to the United Kingdom.
According to reports in The Sun, one driving factor behind this potential transatlantic move is Britney's alleged fear that her father, Jamie, and her sons could be planning to "stage an intervention". The reports also suggest family members wish to connect her with professional medical care.
The singer is said to feel under "huge pressure" in her California home and views London as a "dream move". Britney has reportedly told those around her that "she wants to live in England" and that a foreign move might be necessary soon.
Britney shares her two sons, Sean and Jayden, with her ex-husband Kevin Federline. Their marriage lasted three years, ending in 2007.
