Britney Spears has criticised her ex-husband Kevin Federline and her sister Jamie Lynn Spears in a scathing Instagram post, saying they made her feel like a slave and that she will find a new family.
The 44-year-old singer, who shares two sons with Federline, Sean Preston, 21, and Jayden James, 20, detailed her grievances in a post that included a still of Dakota Fanning from the 2003 film Uptown Girls and had comments turned off.
Claims Against Sister and Ex-Husband
In the post, Spears wrote: "Jamie Lynn never let me hold [my niece] Ivy [sic] one time when I would visit in Louisiana during covid in two week trip." She added: "Kevin wouldn't let me use the bathroom when I would pick my children up in their house !!!"
She continued: "They made me feel like a slave and have all their secret things they did behind my back and all I ever did was work for my dad !!! I will find a new family !!!"
Background of Custody and Conservatorship
Spears was married to Federline, a dancer, from 2004 until 2007. He was granted sole physical and legal custody of the children in 2008, while Spears retained limited visitation rights that gradually increased over time.
The conservatorship that had controlled her life ended in November 2021. Months later, in 2022, public tensions and strain over her social media posts led to a period where she did not see her sons for months, before eventually reconnecting.
Son Defends Mother Against Clone Conspiracy
In July, Jayden James defended his mother after online conspiracies claimed she had been cloned. He hit out at the hoax that intensified since November 2021, when Spears was released from a conservatorship after almost 14 years, during which time carers, including her father, had near total control of her life.
In a social media post that Britney fan group BreatheHeavy reposted, Jayden said: "I hop on TikTok and everyone on TikTok - I see this one video that has 1.2 million likes, and the caption is like, 'The biggest theory ever: Is Britney Spears still alive?' Like, bro, you can go to her page and see her right now."
The teenager expressed concern over the "exaggerated and fake" nature of the rumours circulating online, adding: "People know how gullible people are, and they use that to their advantage." He said: "Anyone that sees it, they just see it and if it has a lot of likes, they [believe] it. They don't even research it; they're just, 'Wow, yeah, it's crazy. I believe it, though.'"
