Career and advocacy
RJ was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at the age of three. His latest film tells the story of an introvert with cerebral palsy who forms an interesting friendship.
Four days before his death, RJ posted about the film on Facebook, describing it as a movie with a "little love, some comedy, and maybe even some drama."
RJ used his fame to advocate for disability rights. He served as a celebrity ambassador for several organizations, including United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children's.
Breaking Bad fame
RJ shot to stardom in 2008 after landing a lead role in hit crime series Breaking Bad, starring as the son of mild-mannered high school chemistry teacher Walter White, who transforms into a ruthless drug kingpin.
RJ starred as Walter White Jr and appeared in 56 episodes. He first appeared in the series aged 15 and had a recurring role until its conclusion in 2013, featuring alongside Hollywood stars such as Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn, Bob Odenkirk and Dean Norris.
Tributes and other work
US actor and singer Vincent Martella, best known for lending his voice to Disney Channel animated series Phineas and Ferb, shared a tribute on X as he reacted to the loss of RJ.
"What a kind and wonderful person. Devastating," he wrote. "So young and genuinely nice to everyone he spoke to. This is truly awful. Sending love to his family."
During his career, RJ walked the catwalk for a Vivienne Westwood fashion show and presented part of Channel 4's coverage of the 2016 Rio Summer Paralympics. He also appeared in several music videos, working with the likes of English band Nothing But Thieves and US rockers Hollywood Undead.
