Bonnie Tyler's Cardiff Show Cancelled After Her Death

Bonnie Tyler's scheduled homecoming concert at Utilita Arena Cardiff on December 17 has been cancelled following the singer's unexpected death at age 75, the venue announced on Thursday. All ticketholders will receive automatic refunds and a commemorative physical ticket as a memento.

Death Announcement

Tyler, born Gaynor Hopkins, died on Wednesday night in a hospital in Portugal after being treated for an illness. A statement on her website said: "Bonnie's family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for." Her family requested privacy as they grieve the "tragedy."

The singer had been placed in an induced coma at a hospital in Faro, Portugal, following emergency intestinal surgery in May. Although her team later said she was no longer in a coma, she remained seriously ill in intensive care. On June 15, representatives cancelled all upcoming shows but had hoped autumn performances would proceed.
