"On Wednesday, they're testing lymph nodes and lymph glands and all of that, and I will keep everybody updated," she explained. "I’d had some tests just before I left the UK, and literally 15 or 20 minutes before [my first Fair City scene] I was in my dressing room... and I was diagnosed with breast cancer," she recounted.
This diagnosis led to the disappointment of having to return to the UK for treatment soon after beginning her new job in Ireland. However, Callard remains optimistic about her recovery and eager to resume her acting career. Speaking to Mail on Sunday, she said, "I’m feeling fine, I’m feeling strong. I’m glad I’ve said it out publicly so it’s just out there for other thousands of women who are also going through it."
