Anthony Joshua Sparks Fan Concern With Golf Cart Stunt Video
Anthony Joshua Golf Cart Stunt Sparks Fan Concern

Anthony Joshua sparked fans' fears after being filmed risking life and limb racing golf carts. Footage posted online showed the former two-time world heavyweight champion apparently reaching out to grab the metal frame of a pal's buggy as it moved alongside. Joshua appeared to repeatedly pull the vehicle back towards his cart, driven by a pal. The boxer even stood up at one point and seemed to try to board the second buggy despite only wearing sliders on his feet. The film was captured in the Dominican Republic and posted on social media.

Fans Voice Concern Over Potential Injury

The Caribbean Lake Park resort in Punta Cana wrote online: "From conquering the ring to enjoying an adrenaline-filled afternoon with friends. Anthony Joshua swapped his gloves for a buggy and experienced the adventure at Caribbean Lake Park. Because here, even champions come to play." But fans were not happy the boxer was attempting stunts ahead of a potential fight with Tyson Fury. One said: "Very HAPPY to see AJ having a lot of fun (But he best be careful not to get a fluke injury or tear on that elbow he had surgery on last year)."

Deadly Crash Earlier This Year

It comes eight months after he survived a road crash that left two pals dead. Joshua's personal trainer Latif Ayodele and his strength coach Sina Ghami died when their Lexus SUV hit a stationary truck on a major road near Lagos, Nigeria in December. AJ, 36, escaped with minor injuries after swapping seats. He was shown being pulled from the wreckage. The tragedy sent shockwaves through Joshua's camp and the wider boxing community. Nigerian authorities said the crash occurred after the SUV had tyre trouble. Chauffeur Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, was later arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving. The case was adjourned until next year.

Return to the Ring After Tragedy

The tragedy came days after the boxer had returned to the spotlight following his victory over Jake Paul in Miami. Following the crash, the boxer posted a tribute to the pair on Instagram, saying: "I didn't even realise how special they are. I'll just be walking with them and cracking jokes with them, not even knowing God kept me in the presence of great men. 100% it's tough for me, but I know it's even tougher for their parents." Joshua showed inspirational 'resilience and strength' by returning to the gym just three weeks after the smash. Long-time promoter Eddie Hearn posted a photo on X showing him working out on an exercise bike next to the fighter. Eddie, 47, said AJ's 'loss is heavy' and he will 'take his time to get back on track'. But he said the boxer was 'truly grateful' for the support and love shown for his pals. "His resilience and strength is inspiring," said Eddie. "The loss is heavy, and he will take his time to get back on track. But said he is truly grateful for all the support and the love shown for Latz and Sina." The tragedy cast doubt on whether AJ would return to the ring or hang up his gloves with Eddie saying he would need time to recover 'physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually' before he got back in the ring.

Victory Dedicated to Late Friends

After he beat Albanian Kristian Prenga in his return to boxing last month, emotional Anthony dedicated his victory to his late pals, saying: "It's more than punch power. That was spirit, that was Latz, that was Sina, that was the families. It hurts to even talk about it. It has been tough. It's my brothers. I don't want to talk about it." His representatives are currently negotiating a potential New York fight against fellow ex-world champ Tyson, 38. Anthony had not responded to a request for comment.
