90s Pop Star Peter Cunnah Looks Unrecognisable 30 Years After D:Ream's Number One Hit

Peter Cunnah, the lead singer of 90s pop and dance group D:Ream, looks completely different nearly 30 years after the band's iconic number-one hit 'Things Can Only Get Better'. The star, now sporting grey hair and a more mature face, regularly shares photos on D:Ream's official Instagram page alongside bandmate Al Mackenzie.

D:Ream, which consisted of Cunnah and Mackenzie, achieved several top 40 hits including 'U R the Best Thing' and 'Shoot Me with Your Love'. Their 1994 song 'Things Can Only Get Better' shot to number one and later became synonymous with Tony Blair's New Labour campaign, a connection Cunnah has mixed feelings about.

In a 2022 interview with the Belfast Telegraph, Cunnah said: 'I've a love-hate relationship with that song now. It's been my meal ticket, for sure, but, you know, Tony Blair is basically a walking war criminal. I've had people say that my work is tainted as a result, that I'm somehow complicit, which I find very, very hurtful.'

The duo reformed in 2008 after a chance meeting and have continued to release music, including the albums 'In Memory Of' (2011) and 'Open Hearts Open Minds' (2021). Despite their ongoing output, none of their recent songs have charted, except for a 2014 re-release of 'Things Can Only Get Better' which reached the top 100.

Cunnah also found success as a songwriter for acts like Steps and A1, and provided vocals for Chicane's top 40 hit 'Love on the Run'. D:Ream have an upcoming concert at Butlins alongside Peter Andre and Cleopatra.
