ACOTAR Book 6: Release Date and Details Revealed

Sarah J. Maas's sixth book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) series, A Court of Splintered Harmony, is set for release on 27 October 2026. The novel, subtitled The Valkyrie Cycle, Movement I, will be followed by book seven, A Court of Forgotten Melody, due on 12 January 2027.

The Series So Far

The ACOTAR series currently includes five titles: A Court of Thorns and Roses, A Court of Mist and Fury, A Court of Wings and Ruin, A Court of Frost and Starlight, and A Court of Silver Flames. The books follow sisters Feyre, Nesta, and Elain Archeron in the faerie realm of Prythian. The series has become a dominant force on BookTok, TikTok's book community, and has achieved international mainstream success, with a TV adaptation in development.

The first ACOTAR book was released in 2015 as a dark retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Maas has sold more than 75 million books, and the series is known for its fairies, dark magic, shape-shifting creatures, and enemies-to-lovers storylines.

What to Expect in Book Six

A Court of Splintered Harmony is less than 400 pages long and forms part of a new trilogy. The blurb reads: "What was broken will be remade. Deep in the heart of the continent, Koschei the Deathless is stirring. Though he's been bound to a mountain lake for millennia, the insidious threat of his return now spreads across the Fae territories, attracting powerful allies hell-bent on reclaiming what was once theirs: the human lands."

The story takes place after the Hybern War, with the Night Court rebuilding Prythian under High Lord Rhysand and High Lady Feyre. The book hints at betrayals and revealed truths in the Night Court's inner circle as Koschei's threat grows. The blurb concludes: "To survive, they must find a way to repair the splintered harmony all around them."

Book Seven and Crossover Speculation

A Court of Forgotten Melody, subtitled The Valkyrie Cycle: Movements II & III, is nearly 900 pages long. Its blurb begins: "What was lost will be reclaimed. Prythian might never be the same again. Traditional alliances are crumbling, and no amount of diplomacy seems sufficient to repair them. With the continued threat of Koschei the Deathless on the horizon, a united front is crucial—and farther out of reach than it has ever been before."

Fans speculate the two new books could crossover with Maas's other best-selling series, Throne of Glass (TOG). The biggest clue is the spider on the cover of book seven, a recurring theme in the TOG books.

Pre-orders are available, with some retailers offering 50 per cent off. A Court of Splintered Harmony is priced at £25 (reduced to £12.50 on Amazon.co.uk), and A Court of Forgotten Melody at £30 (reduced to £15 on Amazon.co.uk).
