Zara Tindall has revealed that her 12-year-old daughter Mia showed her a bit of attitude by rolling her eyes during a recent horse-riding trip. The 45-year-old royal made the confession in a rare interview on the Talk Horse podcast, hosted by Pippa Funnel and Tristan Phipps, filmed at Princess Anne's Gatcombe Park estate.
Eye-rolling moment
Speaking about taking Mia and two of her cousins horse-riding, Zara said: “I took Mia for a jump the other day. Mia and her two cousins.”
She continued: “And then I said, 'To me' or something, she just rolled her eyes and went 'Urgh', I was like, 'I literally said the same thing to the other guys. They didn't roll their eyes at me'.
“I think I was probably like that with my mother and father too, I'm sure they'll tell you that.”
Family life without titles
Zara and her husband Mike Tindall are also parents to Lena, eight, and Lucas, five. The family-of-five live a relatively ordinary life despite being members of the Royal Family, as they have no official titles. This is thanks to Princess Anne, who decided not to give her children titles when they were born.
Zara has previously spoken about being grateful for this decision. In a podcast with Rob Burrow before his death in 2024, she said: “From my point of view, I was obviously very lucky that my mother didn't give us any titles, so I really commend her on that. We were very lucky that we got to do it a bit our own way.”
She also told The Times in 2015: “I'm very lucky that both my parents decided not to use the title and we grew up and did all the things that gave us the opportunity to do.”
The podcast also heard Zara reveal that she has signed up for the eventing challenge at the London International Horse Show. Mia, who has already been seen at a horse-riding event and is believed to share her mum and grandmother's passion for horses, will turn 13 in January.
