Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley has been spotted supporting her friend and former castmate Claire Sweeney in her new role, taking her daughter Iris to watch Sweeney perform as Miss Hannigan in the touring production of Annie.

Tyldesley, from Salford, reprised her role as Eva Price on the ITV soap last October after a seven-year absence. Her return saw her reunite with old castmates and meet newer faces, including Claire Sweeney, who joined the show as Cassie Plummer, Tyrone Dobbs' long-lost mother. Sweeney is set to depart the soap next week after three years to take on her dream role in Annie.

Sweeney officially took over the role of Miss Hannigan from Strictly Come Dancing star La Voix earlier this month, when the tour began in Wimbledon on May 23. With the show now in Blackpool, Tyldesley travelled from Manchester with her daughter Iris to see the performance at the Winter Gardens. The little one even got to go behind the scenes and had a moment on stage.
Sharing videos and pictures on Instagram, Tyldesley wrote: 'Today we went to see the utterly BRILLIANT @claire.sweeney in @anniemusicaluk oh my days!!! WHAT a show!! Pure magic! @claire.sweeney is hilariously wonderful as Miss Hannigan.' She added: 'Fabulous cast! Wonderfully directed by the brilliant @nikolaifostertheatre and sensationally choreographed by the wonderful @nickw1nston - DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW! Iris is obsessed! Thanks for letting her be your new understudy @claire.sweeney.'
Sweeney also posted pictures from the visit, telling her followers: 'Loved seeing you today @auntiecath17 Iris is beautiful. You are such a good friend, thank you.' Tyldesley replied: 'Love you lady! You were phenomenal.'
