Sir Tom Jones left The Voice UK viewers in awe during last night's blind auditions with a powerful rendition of In the Tower of Song. The performance reduced his co-stars and viewers to tears.
Emotional reaction from co-stars
Sir Tom shared the moving clip on Instagram and was quickly flooded with comments of praise and emotion. His former co-stars Olly Murs and Anne Marie also shared heartfelt comments, with Olly writing, "I'm crying, love this man." Anne Marie simply penned, "I love you."
Kelly Rowland also said, "THANK YOU FOR THIS SONG!! For singing it with everything you have! We are so grateful to experience it! Love You," reports Wales Online.
Exchange about age and voice
Elsewhere during the programme, Kelly Rowland remarked on how Sir Tom was "85 years young." Sir Tom responded, "Oh, 85 years young."
As the audience applauded, Kelly observed, "You've seen, heard so much. You have been around the world how many times? You know what I mean?"
"A lot," Sir Tom acknowledged before continuing, "I just love the fact that I can still sing." Kelly responded, "Amen. Your voice changes, and it continues to evolve. But yours is so strong, when you're singing, it is so strong."
Health setbacks and resilience
Despite continuing to perform into his eighties, Tom has experienced several health problems over the years. One of the biggest has been his hips. He had his left hip replaced in 2017. Five years later, he revealed that his right hip had also deteriorated and that doctors had advised him to undergo another replacement.
More recently, in July 2025, Tom was forced to postpone a concert in Bremen, Germany, after developing an upper respiratory infection that required treatment and rest. Despite these setbacks, Sir Tom has continued to perform and record, and his appearance on The Voice UK is a testament to his extraordinary resilience.
