Sir Tom Jones returns to The Voice UK tonight as another round of blind auditions airs, and fans are all saying the same thing about his appearance. In a preview clip shared on Instagram, the Welsh icon reflected on being 85 and still able to sing.
The show's newest coach, Kelly Rowland, began by pointing out, "85 years young," to which Sir Tom replied, "Oh, 85 years young." As the crowd cheered, Kelly noted, "You've seen, heard so much. You have been around the world how many times? You know what I mean?"
Fans praise Sir Tom's voice and looks
Sir Tom nodded, agreeing, "A lot." He went on to admit, "I just love the fact that I can still sing." Kelly replied, "Amen. Your voice changes, and it continues to evolve. But yours is so strong, when you're singing, it is so strong."
The crowd proceeded to shout, "Give us a song," to which Sir Tom replied, "Well, let's see." Fans rushed to the comments section to praise Sir Tom and how good he looks and sounds at 85 years old.
One wrote, "Sir Tom is sensational, his voice is truly phenomenal. Seeing him in concert is mind-blowing; he is breathtaking. Can't wait to see this." Another said, "85 years young and still incredibly handsome, with that unmistakable voice, charm and presence. Some legends don’t age — they simply become more iconic."
Pre-recorded episode and past performances
Someone else added, "Sir Tom still has a fantastic voice! I saw him last month in Lucca, and I was very thrilled. Thanks, Sir Tom, for your magnificent art: your music and your voice are a balm for the soul!" Another fan pointed out that the episode was pre-recorded last year, as Sir Tom has since turned 86.
This isn't the first time Sir Tom has sung on The Voice, as last week, he and Kelly Rowland performed a duet, which went down a storm with viewers. The Sex Bomb hitmaker said he had sung with a lot of people in his career, "but not with you."
"Well, I am down if you are, sir," Kelly replied as they began to sing Fever by Peggy Lee. During last week's blind auditions, Sir Tom came face-to-face with a blast from the past. A performer named Ray, who was Sir Tom's understudy for one of his concerts, explained he had to stand in for Sir Tom, who was stuck in traffic at the time.
The Voice airs tonight at 7pm on ITV.
