Two people have been arrested after an altercation with police outside a Toby Carvery restaurant in Chadderton on Friday evening. Emergency services descended on the restaurant last night amid reports that a man had been tasered by police (Friday, August 28).
The restaurant, located on Chadderton Park, Oldham, was closed for a short period of time after a number of police cars and an ambulance were spotted outside, witnesses said. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has now confirmed that a man and a woman have been arrested and remain in custody for questioning.
Vehicle stop leads to arrest
GMP said that officers noticed a vehicle driving erratically and conducted a vehicle stop at 7.45pm on Friday evening. After approaching and speaking to the driver, GMP said that he became "aggressive", which led the officers to deploy their taser.
After searching the vehicle, the driver, a man, was arrested on suspicion of assaulting two officers, possession with intent to supply class B, and child neglect. A passenger, a woman, was also arrested on suspicion of child neglect and the pair remain in police custody for questioning.

"At 7.45pm on Friday 28 August, officers conducted a vehicle stop after observing vehicle driving in an erratic manner," a GMP statement reads. It continues: "Officers spoke to the driver, who then became aggressive and a taser was deployed."
"Following a search of the vehicle, a man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assaulting two officers, possession with intent to supply class B, and child neglect. A woman, a passenger, was also arrested on suspicion of child neglect. They remain in custody for questioning."
