Lucy Davis, best known for her role in The Office, has revealed she has terminal breast cancer. In a sad Instagram post on Tuesday, the 53-year-old made a devastating comment about seeing her pet Gracie "sooner than expected".
Heartbreaking admission about late pet
In September 2024, Lucy revealed her pet dog had died. She said at the time: "I had to say goodbye to the best being there is. She was nearly 17. Because of Gracie I learned what this feeling of unconditional love is. And now I need to somehow deal with the loss of her in my life."
She added: "I don’t really know where to start in telling who she was, she gave me everything and asked for nothing. I learned so much from her. For her whole life I always knew where she was at any given minute, and now I don’t. That’s one of the hardest parts for me. She was kind, generous, willful, funny, fabulously disobedient, very vocal, and so loving. She was my travel buddy, my playmate, my partner in crime, my love. God I was lucky. Thank you my girl. Fly free. Until we meet again."
Message to followers
Now, that "meet again" comment could come sooner than expected, the star has sadly said. In her Instagram statement, Lucy wrote: "I’ll see my Gracie sooner than expected, and for me, leaving my physical body just means going home. Any and all grieving is for my family; it’s far harder for them than for me."
She revealed she intends to keep working with animal rights groups until her death, penning: "I’m still going to keep up all my work for animal rights. It’s so important to me. And I still would like to keep working. I’m perfectly able to do so, and acting is one of the biggest joys in my life."

The actress concluded: "For those of you on a similar journey to mine, I do wish you well. Cancer asks a lot from us, physically and mentally. And we all get to do it however we choose. Much love to you all."
Many celebrities were among those dashing to share messages of support to Lucy. Among them was Piers Morgan, who wrote: "Lucy, this is such devastating news. I’m so sorry. Your courage in talking about this so honestly says everything about you. Sending you and your family all my love and support. X."
Big Bang Theory’s John Ross Bowie also penned: "You are the real deal and I have been honoured to share the stage with you a couple of times. I remain a huge fan."
