Teenage sisters Honor and Cat Black have made Dragon's Den history by becoming the youngest-ever founders to receive offers from all of the dragons.
The siblings impressed in the Den, having turned their personal frustration into a fast-growing business. After growing up playing cricket in men's kits, Honor and Cat founded Maiden Cricket in 2024 to create clothing and equipment specifically for women and girls.
From frustration to a national brand
They saw firsthand how uncomfortable clothing, or a lack of choice, could affect girls' confidence and connection with the sport. Determined to change that, they launched Maiden to create purpose-built clothing, teamwear and equipment designed specifically for female players.
In just two years, Maiden has grown into a national brand working with clubs, schools, universities and County Boards across the UK, supported by a community of more than 300 ambassadors, including grassroots players and professionals such as Alex Hartley and Mia Rogers.
Expansion to the U.S.
Maiden is now taking its female-first approach to the U.S. with the launch of Maiden Cricket U.S., bringing its purpose-built women's cricket apparel and equipment to American players.
During their pitch, as seen during Dragon's Den on Thursday (August 27) night, Honor and Cat presented their vision for a future where women and girls are properly equipped to play cricket at every level.
Founders on the Den experience
Honor said: "Walking into the show was one of the most nerve-racking experiences we’ve ever had. We knew we had to stand behind what we’ve built and explain clearly why women’s cricket needs better-designed kit. It was a huge opportunity to put that argument in front of a national audience."
Cat added: "Maiden started because we were tired of girls having to compromise on kit that wasn’t made for them. Everything we’ve built is about changing that and making sure female players have products that work for them, not adapted versions of men’s gear."
Nicole Muller, mentor and business lead at Maiden Cricket, added, "Seeing Honor and Cat presenting Maiden on such a major platform is a proud moment. The reaction reflects both the growth of women’s cricket and the demand for products designed specifically for female players."
