The Cure at Wythenshawe Park: Road Closures This Weekend

This Friday, The Cure will perform at Wythenshawe Park in Manchester, marking their first gig in the city in ten years. The show kicks off the Live From Wythenshawe Park concert series, with support acts Slowdive and The Slow Readers Club.

The Cure's concert is the first of five at the park this August. Lewis Capaldi will make his Wythenshawe Park debut on Saturday, followed by performances from Pulp, Courteeners and The Prodigy next weekend.

Concert Series Background

The concert series began in 2023 with a performance from Noel Gallagher. Since then, the park has hosted Blossoms, New Order, Fontaines D.C., Sam Fender and many more support acts.

Live From Wythenshawe Park are one-day ticketed events held within a fenced arena in the park. Last year, the capacity increased to 35,000, allowing more music fans to attend.

Event Timings and Travel Advice

Gates open at 4pm, with a curfew of 10:30pm. For The Cure, Slow Readers Club will play at 5:25pm, Slowdive at 6:35pm, and The Cure will take the stage at 8:15pm. All scheduled times are subject to change.

Those travelling to the shows are encouraged to use public transport where possible. Options include tram, shuttle bus, Big Green Coach and train. Park and Ride is available, and there are designated pick-up and drop-off areas for those getting a lift.

Metrolink services are expected to be busier than usual between 2pm and 8pm to the park, and from 10pm to midnight towards Manchester. An enhanced tram service will operate around Wythenshawe Park during these times. Wythenshawe Road and Baguley tram stops will be closed from 9pm.
