Strictly Come Dancing viewers have been left speechless after a video surfaced showing fan-favourite professional Lauren Oakley showcasing another one of her skills. The 35-year-old has been part of the BBC show for five years and has been paired with the likes of Krishnan Guru-Murthy, JB Gill, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, and currently Graeme Hall.
However, it seems the dancefloor is not the only place where Lauren is gifted, as she can also sing. In a YouTube video from nine years ago, recently shared on Reddit, the BBC dancer is seen singing a cover of Corinne Bailey Rae's song Put Your Records On.
Fans React to Lauren's Vocal Performance
Circulating the video online, someone captioned it: "I never knew Lauren could sing! I just came across this video of Lauren singing Put Your Records On, and I genuinely had no idea that she could sing, so this was a pleasant surprise for me."
It wasn't long before other people commented on the clip in disbelief. One person replied: "Adding her to my list of people I will hopefully recognise if they ever go on the Masked Singer. Singing and dancing talent like hers belongs in the West End, honestly. Strictly should feel lucky to have her."
Another added: "It's kind of crazy how much she sounds almost exactly like the original singer of this song. I almost can't believe it's her, crazy talent!"
Lauren's Strictly Journey This Season
The comments were echoed on the YouTube video as one person demanded, "Fabulous, give her a recording contract!" As another wrote: "Wow, never knew Lauren could sing .. what a beautiful voice."
During the first live show of the BBC series, which aired on September 26, Lauren performed a Cha Cha with Graeme Hall, earning them a score of 24 from the judges and putting them fifth on the leaderboard.
At the end of his performance, judge Craig Revel Horwood said, "It was actually making me laugh, and I still can't work out why because you don't look like you're going to be able to do it, and then you get up, and you're actually doing it. You were paying attention to great detail in the technical side of it as well. I loved it."
Leaderboard Standings
At the top of the scale is John Nellis and his professional partner, Katya Jones, who have a score of 31 after their Foxtrot. Meanwhile, there are three celebrities at the joint bottom of the leaderboard, with Melanie Walters, Shaun-Wright Phillips and Dame Sarah Storey all being given a score of 15.
