Scots mum shares daughter's hilarious before and after school snaps

A Scots mum has shared a hilarious picture of her four-year-old daughter after her first day at school. The little girl set off for her big day bright as a button but it was quite a different picture just a few hours later.

Excited Start, Exhausted Finish

Proud parents Louise McGowan, 35, and Michael McGowan, 39, said they were emotional watching their youngest child Mollie heading into the classroom of St Edward's Primary school in Airdrie looking smart in her new uniform. But at pick up time, it was clear the excitement had been a little too much for Mollie as they found her completely zonked out on her desk with teachers unable to wake her from her sleep.

Mum of four Louise said Mollie headed into her new class at 10am on Wednesday (August 12) morning and had been very excited to start primary 1. She told the Record: "On the night before, she kept getting up and out her bed and coming in and asking if it was school time yet? She just kept waking up and asking are we going to school yet? She was just really excited."

A Power Nap at Pick-Up

But when dad went to pick Mollie up at 2pm he couldn't believe what he saw. Wee Mollie was slumped over her desk having a much-needed power nap and it seemed no one could wake her up. Louise laughed: "Her Dad said she wasn't responding to anybody. He was trying to wake her up and so were the teachers and all her wee pals. The teachers all thought it was the funniest thing ever."

In the sweet images, her proud parents shared with the Record, Mollie looks very smart for her first day, dressed in a tartan blue pinafore and shirt with her hair tied back in pigtails with matching bows. The P1 was pictured standing next to her personalised crayon balloon to celebrate her first day. In a follow up image, taken at the end of the day, she can be seen slumped over her desk in a deep slumber with her arm and hair hilariously stretched out over the table.

Family Reaction and Second Day

Sharing her reaction, Louise told the Record: "I think she's so funny. She's the only one that fell asleep. I expected her to be tired, I just didn't think she'd have a wee nap on the table." Adding that the sleepy girl likely takes after her Dad, she joked: "That's what her Dad is like though, he's been known to fall asleep getting tattoos done or in the car. He could fall asleep anywhere so I think she's just going to follow in his footsteps."

The kids spent their first day learning about their family trees and sharing the names of the people they live with at home. Louise said: "No wonder she's been tired because she's got three sisters and she'll have been trying to rhyme everybody off." Luckily, Mollie was able to get up fine for her second day today after the buzz of her first day and a good night's sleep. Louise said: "She came in last night and she slept from 6pm right through until half seven this morning. She needed it."
