Radfords climb Ben More in tribute to Sophie Walker

Noel Radford and family friend Jamie Walker take on a climb of Ben More on the Isle of Mull in Scotland in tonight's episode of 22 Kids and Counting, marking two years since the death of Jamie's daughter Sophie Walker.

Sophie died in July 2024 at the age of 17 after a seven-year battle with Wilms tumour, a rare type of kidney cancer. She was originally diagnosed in 2017 after visiting doctors with a suspected stomach bug. Sophie underwent numerous rounds of chemotherapy and experienced several relapses before her death, leaving behind her parents and her nine siblings, including her twin Megan.

A challenging climb in memory of Sophie

In a clip from this evening's episode, Jamie says he wants to make Sophie "proud", though the climb proves difficult as Noel points out "there's a massive rain cloud coming our way". As they battle the elements, Noel says: "It's not worth it" while Jamie insists: "I'm not messing this up."

Family tribute after her death

At the time of Sophie's death, the family shared an emotional tribute on their Facebook page. It read: "Our beautiful, intelligent, funny, thoughtful and brave girl Sophie fell fast asleep last night just after 6.30pm with Megan lying by her side and surrounded by all her family.

"We love Sophie with all our hearts and our world will never be the same again, to say we are heartbroken is a complete understatement.

"Please keep our broken family in your thoughts & prayers, this is a post I never ever thought I'd have to write."

Updates on the Radford family

Meanwhile, 22 Kids and Counting continues to share updates about the Radford family. Most recently, Millie welcomed her fourth child, a baby boy named Cooper-Jax. Younger sister Tillie also successfully underwent a 10-hour operation to reconstruct her knee and lengthen her left leg, which is expected to be shown in the next series.

22 Kids and Counting continues every Sunday at 8pm on Channel 5.
