Queen's 'Don't Stop Me Now' tops UK morning playlist

Queen's hit 'Don't Stop Me Now' has been named the nation's favourite song to kick-start the day, according to a new study by Nutella. The track leads a top 20 chart of feel-good morning anthems, with ABBA's 'Dancing Queen' and Katrina and The Waves' 'Walking on Sunshine' close behind.

Music's Role in Morning Routine

The research reveals that music is an essential part of Britain's morning routine. A significant 87% of respondents say playing a tune helps them and their family feel more energised at the start of the day. Additionally, 58% use music to create a feel-good atmosphere around the breakfast table.

Pop dominates the nation's breakfast soundtrack, chosen by more than half (53%) of those surveyed, ahead of R&B (21%), club classics (18%), and indie (13%).

The Science Behind the Sound

The findings come as more than two thirds of Brits proudly describe themselves as morning people. Psychologists have long suggested that upbeat music can stimulate the release of dopamine – the brain's feel-good chemical – helping improve mood, boost motivation, and reduce stress.

This may explain why so many Brits instinctively reach for their favourite playlist before they've even checked their emails.
