Molly Caudery, the British pole vaulter, has joined the BBC's commentary team for the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. The 2024 and 2026 world indoor champion is engaged to fellow Team GB athlete Joel Clarke-Khan, a British high jumper who has won the British Athletics Championships four times.
Who is Joel Clarke-Khan?
Joel Clarke-Khan won the British Athletics Championships in 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2026. The couple got engaged in October 2025, announcing the news on Instagram with photos from Hawaii, where Joel proposed. They received congratulations from fellow athletes, including Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Georgia Hunter Bell.
The pair, who bought their first home last year, have spoken about training together. Joel previously said: "We used to actually train everyday together but now we're kind of separate; however on the days we do get to do it together it's good fun. A lot of people say, 'How do you do it - is it not intense?' There is nothing I'd rather do than the thing I love with the person that I love."
Caudery's Career and Recovery
Caudery holds the British national record for the women's pole vault with a best of 4.92 metres. She was a silver medallist at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and took bronze at the 2024 European Athletics Championships. She is currently recovering from spinal surgery.
Speaking to Gabby Logan on air, Caudery said: "I'm actually doing really well. Of course, it was an absolute shock. I had big plans for this season, but that got taken away quite quickly, but I'm very excited to watch [the] pole vault this evening. We've got a great line-up and I think it's going to be fab."
