Mirra Andreeva threw her racket during her US Open quarter-final against Coco Gauff, risking immediate disqualification after her frustrations boiled over in the final set.
Andreeva Loses Cool in Decider
The No. 5 seed appeared to be cruising to victory after quickly winning the opening set in 26 minutes. However, she could not convert two match points in the second set tiebreak, one of which was on her serve, and was taken to a decider.
When Gauff took an early break lead in the third and final set, the French Open champion finally lost her cool. While walking back to her bench, she chucked her racket towards it, but it hit another racket resting on its side, flew a few centimetres into the air, and narrowly avoided a cameraman.

The incident could result in immediate disqualification, though no official ruling has been announced.
