Maura Higgins celebrated her departure from the UK with a farewell party before heading to the United States to compete on Dancing With The Stars. The former Love Island star, who has found success in America with appearances on The Traitors, is set to join the dance competition show, but has already been involved in a public disagreement with professional dancer Gleb Savchenko.
Farewell Party and Karaoke
Higgins bid goodbye to the UK in style, partying with friends and engaging in some karaoke that drew teasing from TikTok star Luke Hamnett. She shared photos from the gathering on Instagram with the caption: "It's my last day in the UK, love my girls and gays." Hamnett also posted a clip of Higgins singing, joking that he hoped her dancing would be better than her singing.
Feud with Gleb Savchenko
Higgins recently expressed her desire not to be partnered with Gleb Savchenko on the show, citing his remarks about women. Speaking to E! News, she said she would be "happy with anyone but Gleb," explaining: "That's only because I'm loyal and I'm friends with Brooks." She added: "I don't really like the way he speaks about women. I don't really want to spend all my time with someone like that. I'm like, 'No thank you'."
Savchenko responded, stating: "Until I was asked to comment on this story, I'd genuinely never heard of this girl, Maura, so I'm certainly not going to lose any sleep over the opinions of someone I've never met. It's odd to publicly attack someone you've never even met, but if that's how she wants to make headlines before the show starts, that's her choice. I'll stay focused and leave the unnecessary drama to everyone else."
