Lucy Davis reveals incurable breast cancer diagnosis

The Office actress Lucy Davis has revealed she was diagnosed with “incurable” stage four breast cancer. The 53-year-old, daughter of comedian Jasper Carrott, is best known for playing Dawn Tinsley in the BBC sitcom.

Diagnosis and spread

In a social media post shared on Tuesday, Davis said she was diagnosed a year and a half ago. The cancer has “metastasized” to her bones, including her spine, right hip and ribs, and it is “too late” for chemotherapy.

Living life to the fullest

Davis said: “As of now, I’m trying to live out whatever might be left of my life in as fun a way as I possibly can.” She added that she always looks for “teachable moments” in negative experiences, saying cancer has taught her a lot, for which she is grateful.

Daily challenges

She described the pain as “really something else,” noting that standing and walking for too long can be hard. She sometimes uses a wheelchair and invited people to give her a push if they see her in one.
