Josie Gibson: 'I didn't have time to heal' after surgery

This Morning presenter Josie Gibson has opened up about her recovery from lipoedema surgery, admitting she "didn't have the time" to heal as recommended. The 41-year-old underwent surgery for lipoedema, a condition causing abnormal fat build-up, usually in the legs and sometimes arms.

Rapid recovery and return to work

In an interview with Closer Magazine, Gibson said: "I healed really fast. I did throw everything at it because I'm a working mum. I knew I didn't have the time that they said to heal. I had to go back to work after two weeks."

Balancing work with motherhood, Gibson, who has a son named Reggie, described the daily challenge: "Every day is a juggle, any parent know that. It's difficult, especially when I'm on my own with Reg. Running around, trying to get him to clubs and then trying to hold down a career and do it all is like a massive juggling act."

Procedures and costs

Earlier this year, Gibson spent £7,000 on liposuction for her calves and later underwent an arm lift. She previously described surgery as "a last resort" and something she hadn't intended to do.

Speaking on This Morning, she addressed speculation about her weight: "I wish I'd lost that much weight, but I haven't. I thought I'd better be honest, I got diagnosed about a year ago, and I have just been in surgery, well, in September I had surgery."

New confidence and results

In a recent interview with The Sun's Fabulous Magazine, Gibson called her latest operation the "best thing" she's ever done. "If you'd seen what my arms were like before, it was hideous, absolutely hideous," she said. "Before the procedures, I hated the way I looked. I hated looking in the mirror."

She now reports newfound confidence, opting for clothes she wouldn't have worn previously, and has lost 2.5 stone through intermittent fasting and a balanced diet. According to the NHS, lipoedema can be painful and affect daily life, with treatments ranging from healthy eating and compression garments to liposuction.
