Hollywood actor John Goodman looks completely unrecognizable after losing 14 stone, as seen in a new photo with fellow actor David DeLuise. The 74-year-old, best known for his role as Dan Conner in the hit sitcom Roseanne, was spotted at a supermarket and agreed to take a photo with DeLuise, who played Jerry Russo on Wizards of Waverly Place.
Star's Dramatic Transformation
In the photo, Goodman is seen smiling, looking drastically thinner than his well-known frame. He wore a white T-shirt and a blue overshirt, with glasses resting on his collar. DeLuise, in a beige patterned T-shirt, shared the snap on Instagram, leaving fans speechless.
Weight Loss Journey
Goodman, who once weighed around 400lbs (28.5st), overhauled his lifestyle in 2017, focusing on healthier eating and exercise habits. His weight has fluctuated over the years, but he has now stabilized at around 200lbs (14st). He has also been sober for nearly twenty years, aiding his fitness journey.
Speaking to the Guardian in 2017, Goodman explained his motivation: "It was 30 years of a disease that was taking its toll on everyone around me and it had got to the point where, every time I did it, it was becoming more and more debilitating. It was life or death, it was time to stop."
Not a Poster Boy
Despite his success, Goodman has said he doesn't want to be an example for weight loss, as he continues to struggle. He added: "I don’t want to be an example to anybody when the weight comes thundering back on – when I start eating Crisco out of the can with a spoon and a side of confectioner’s sugar."
Goodman has made few public appearances in recent years, but was spotted in 2024 at JFK airport, signing autographs and showing off his transformation.
