Jeremy Clarkson recounts hilarious 'dogging' encounter near farm

Jeremy Clarkson has recounted an awkward encounter with a suspected 'dogger' in the woodland near his Cotswolds farm. Writing in The Times, the 66-year-old described how he came across a young man in a car while returning from his local pub one evening.

Pub built on former dogging hotspot

The former Top Gear presenter has previously revealed that his pub, The Farmer's Dog near Burford in Oxfordshire, stands on what was once a notorious dogging location. He reportedly spent "less than £1 million" on The Windmill, which sits within five acres of countryside and reopened under its new name in 2004.

In July 2024, Clarkson shared a brief clip on Instagram, telling his 8.3 million followers: "Tell me you bought a pub on a dogging site without telling me you bought a pub on a dogging site." The video showed him holding a pair of women's knickers with a stick, and it gained more than 110,000 likes and over 1,000 comments within just over three hours.

Encounter near the farm

Now, in his Times column, Clarkson detailed a further incident near his farm. He explained that he initially suspected the vehicle's occupants were fly-tippers engaged in illegal activity. He wrote: "We like to think this is mostly the preserve of suburban housewives in home country pampas places like Beaconsfield but in the not too distant past, the car park at my remote Cotswolds pub was a hot spot as well. It's even happened, on a smaller scale, on my farm."

He recounted noticing a "suspicious-looking" vehicle near the woodland and drawing up silently beside the passenger window. There he observed a young man, approximately 17 years old, smoking a "doobie" with one hand while "frantically" performing a sex act with the other.

'I rather wish we had met in different circumstances'

When the teenager became aware he was being watched, he lowered the window and said: "Oh my God, you're Jeremy Clarkson." He then added: "I rather wish we had met in different circumstances." Clarkson described this as the finest response he had ever encountered.
