Hollywood star Jennifer Garner made a spectacular return to the Golden Globes red carpet on Sunday, marking her first appearance at the iconic awards ceremony since 2013. The 53-year-old actress embodied timeless Hollywood elegance at the 83rd annual event, held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
A Show-Stopping Fashion Statement
Garner captivated onlookers in a breathtaking sleeveless black gown by designer Cong Tri. The dress was a masterpiece of craftsmanship, requiring a staggering 1,300 hours of meticulous hand embroidery. It was adorned with an incredible 330,000 individual crystal beads, according to a report from InStyle magazine.
The gown's design featured a slim, fitted bodice and a tiered skirt embellished with delicate short tassels, perfectly showcasing Garner's figure. She maintained a monochrome palette with her choice of footwear, selecting a pair of pointed-toe Roger Vivier heels decorated with intricate floral designs.
Completing the Glamorous Look
The actress's beauty look complemented the dazzling ensemble flawlessly. She styled her brunette hair with a centre parting, allowing thick, glossy waves to cascade over her shoulders. Her makeup was elegantly applied, and she added significant sparkle with statement jewellery.
This included a substantial diamond ring on her right hand and a striking feather-shaped diamond-encrusted ring on her left middle finger. Long, dangling earrings completed the sophisticated frame for her face.
The Night's Major Contenders and Surprises
While Garner's fashion was a highlight, the nominations provided the evening's dramatic tension. The epic film 'One Battle After Another,' starring Leonardo DiCaprio, led the field with an impressive nine nominations. These included Best Picture, Director, Screenplay, and a Best Actor nod for DiCaprio, alongside Supporting Actor recognitions for Benicio del Toro and Sean Penn.
In the television categories, Netflix's hit series 'Adolescence' earned five nominations, including a surprise nod for Ashley Walters alongside its stars Stephen Graham, Erin Doherty, and 16-year-old Owen Cooper. However, 'The White Lotus' narrowly surpassed it with six nominations, largely in the acting categories.
The ceremony was not without its notable snubs. The much-anticipated sequel 'Wicked: For Good' was shockingly omitted from the Best Musical or Comedy category, though stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande received acting nods. Other surprises included the absence of a nomination for Sydney Sweeney in the Best Actress (Drama) category.
Comedian Nikki Glaser returned as host for the second consecutive year, promising her signature unfiltered humour. Furthermore, it was announced that British acting legend Dame Helen Mirren will receive the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement, to be presented in a separate ceremony on January 8th.
