Homes Under the Hammer star Jacqui Joseph has opened up about the devastating loss of her beloved husband Andy, who died eight years ago.
Andy's cancer diagnosis
Andy was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer in 2018 and died just eight months later on New Year's Day. The couple had a daughter, Bianca, together.
Speaking about her experience with grief, Joseph said: "Afterwards, when I saw people walking their dogs or going up the road, I'd think, 'What are you doing? Why are you out there acting normal, like nothing's happened?'"
Challenging Christmas period
She said the Christmas period is "particularly challenging" as it feels "more intense, because everyone needs to be joyous, and everyone's getting together."
Joseph and Andy met when she was managing a band before they ran a record label together. Describing her late husband, she said: "He was a good soul, he was great, he was fun. We did everything together. We worked together. We had holidays together, we got coffee together, dinner together, cinema together, everything together."
Keeping his memory alive
Andy continues to be an ongoing presence in Joseph's life. She revealed: "I light a candle for him every day, even when I'm staying in hotels. It's his light, and it's a must for me."
Joseph, who lives in London, has been part of the Homes Under the Hammer family since 2021. The show continues weekdays at 11.30am on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
