Celebrities including former Sunderland manager Peter Reid and stars from The Traitors will take part in the 2026 Great North Run on Sunday, September 13. The 13.1-mile road race from Newcastle to South Shields will see a host of famous faces on the start line.

Rachel Duffy was part of the winning double act in The Traitors earlier this year. Jake Quickenden and Joe Wicks both took part in last year's event and have been confirmed to return.
Race History
The Great North Run has been held for over four decades, launched by Sir Brendan Foster in 1981. The only year without a race was 2020 during the Covid pandemic.
Previous celebrity participants include the late Kevin Keegan, who ran in a half Newcastle, half Sunderland top. Last year's stars included Tommy Fury, Kelly Holmes and Sara Davies.
More celebrity names are expected to be announced ahead of the September event.
