Gabby Logan has revealed that her husband, Kenny Logan, jokingly threatened to leave her during an awkward moment following his prostate cancer battle. The former rugby player was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2022 after a Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test revealed higher-than-normal levels, despite him showing no symptoms.
Diagnosis and Treatment
Kenny, 54, underwent surgery to remove his prostate and was given the all-clear in February 2023. Determined to raise awareness about prostate cancer—the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men in the UK—he has spoken openly about symptoms and the effects of prostate removal, including erectile dysfunction.
After being warned he could experience erectile dysfunction following treatment, Kenny was provided with a penis pump to help increase blood flow and achieve or maintain an erection.
The Awkward Moment
Speaking on The Romesh Ranganathan Show, Gabby, 53, explained the context behind a quote about the pump. She said: 'He basically had, they gave him at the hospital, a penis pump. And he said he'd leave me if I ever walked in when he was using the penis pump.'
Laughing, she added: 'He said, "If you ever saw me doing this, I'm leaving." So, I didn't say, "You'll be doing that on your own", it was more him saying, "I'll be doing this on my own." He didn't think it was going to be the sexiest thing in the world.'
Kenny's Perspective
Kenny previously told The Telegraph that he used the pump for 10 minutes 'a day or so' during the first month. 'I was grateful that Gabby was away working on the Commonwealth Games,' he said. 'I warned her that if she ever walked in on me using it and didn't back straight out the door, I'd never speak to her again.'
Raising Awareness
Gabby praised Kenny's openness, saying: 'I've got huge admiration for him for doing that and talking about it and being so candid.' She noted that he felt a responsibility to speak out to help others get checked.
