Sports presenter Gabby Logan has admitted that she made a mistake while working at ITV earlier in her career. Gabby, 53, has worked across multiple different broadcasters as well as ITV, including Sky and the BBC.
Gabby admitted she may have made an error when it came to how she dressed at the start of her illustrious career back in the 1990s. Responding to a question about if clothes were something she cared about, Gabby spoke about the role they play in the job she does.

Gabby, one of the lead presenters for BBC Sport's Match of the Day, told The Outnet, “Very much so, and it’s an interesting juxtaposition in the job that I do, because when I first started out in telly.”
She added: “I mean I look back now at the stuff I wore for ITV, and I genuinely looked like every Saturday lunch time like I was about to go to a nightclub. I mean, I was 23, and I really just didn’t know, I didn’t know what worked on telly I felt ‘oh, this looks nice’ when I went out the previous Saturday night ‘I’ll wear it next lunch time on telly,’ and it just never worked.”
While Gabby got her big break in television on Sky Sports, when she moved to ITV that her career really took off. She fronted the resurrected football magazine series On the Ball, while she was also a fixture on the network's Champions League coverage.
Making an effort for viewers
The Match of the Day co-presenter added that she felt like presenters owed it to the viewers to make an effort with their appearance.
She added: “Look I feel the viewers watching the show, they really expect to be entertained, but they also expect for you to make an effort for them. They’re turning the telly on you’re going into their living room you want to feel that you’ve actually made an effort for them so hair, makeup, clothes. For me, if I don’t have to think about it once I am on air, that’s a success, that’s the point of it for me, I feel good.”
Former boss's misogynistic comment
Meanwhile, Gabby recently spoke about an interaction with a former boss who left her with the impression her on-screen appearances might not last. She recalled how the incident, that happened when she was in her early 20s, gave her a sense of urgency that pushed her to work harder to achieve more.
Gabby recounted the experience on Hello’s Second Act podcast and how the whole thing made her feel.
She said: “One of the most misogynistic things that was ever said to me by one of my bosses at Sky, who told me I'd be off his screen by the time I was 28. And so at 24, I thought, my God, I better get everything done then, because I've only got four years of career. Thankfully, he was wrong. But you can imagine the urgency that that instilled in me and how I felt like I literally thought 'if I could push it to 30.'
“So it didn't matter how good you were going to get or how proficient at your job you were going to become, you were going to be cast aside. And there were blokes on the channel at the time who were in their 60s…. Yeah, different days. Just being judged by different standards.”
