Emmerdale fans are fearing that a third death could be on the horizon after Joe Tate collapsed in hospital, following the tragic wedding day that claimed the lives of Dawn Taylor and Jimmy King.
Wedding day tragedy
Last week's episodes centred on the wedding of Joe Tate and Dawn Taylor. Dawn had planned to jilt Joe and run away with Billy Fletcher and the children, but changed her mind after discovering Joe was not the man who attacked Billy.
As the couple reconnected, Jimmy King lost control of his car and ploughed into the wedding marquee. Trapped inside, Jimmy died with Nicola King at his side, just before the car and marquee exploded with Joe trapped inside.
Joe's collapse sparks fears
Joe survived the blast and was rushed to hospital, where Dawn gave birth to a healthy baby boy. In a devastating turn, Joe later found Dawn dead, having died while he was out of the room.
Prior to Dawn's death, Joe collapsed in the hospital corridor. Fans are now wondering if this could hint at an underlying brain injury that could cost him his life.
On Facebook, Metro reader Frances theorised: 'I think theres more to come with Joe, after he collapsed & earlier when he got up he went dizzy. He may be the next death but then I had a thought..when they were talking baby names they mentioned Christopher (his uncles name i think) he could end up partly paralysed like Chris Tate was??'
Fan theories on the collapse
Courtney also thought there was more to the collapse, adding: 'They'll address it later on.' Helen suggested: 'I guess he's bleeding internally,' while Amanda speculated: 'He may of collapsed from exhaustion.'
Other fans believed the collapse could be linked to the kidney Joe stole from Caleb Miligan earlier this year. 'Could be kidney damage due to the crash,' Anna said, while Maurice guessed: 'Or maybe the girder falling on him affected his transplant.'
Whether Joe is still at risk of death or out of the woods for now remains to be seen.
