Emmerdale fans fear Moira Dingle's brain tumour has returned after out-of-character scenes
Emmerdale fans fear Moira's brain tumour has returned

Emmerdale viewers are predicting a heartbreaking death in the Yorkshire Dales, after spotting a worrying clue. Fans of the ITV soap have been left concerned for one villager, Moira Dingle (played by Natalie J. Robb), who first arrived in the Dales back in 2009, where she quickly became one of the soap's most-loved characters.

Moira's turbulent history in the Dales

Over the years, Moira has been involved in several memorable storylines. This includes her affair with her now-husband, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), the murder of Emma Barton (Gillian Kearney), an affair with Cain's long-lost son, Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), and being diagnosed with a meningioma brain tumour.

That's not all, as Moira was wrongly imprisoned earlier this year, after Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) blackmailed Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) into planting illegal IDs at Butler's Farm. Moira eventually returned to the village after several months behind bars and moved into Wishing Well cottage.

Tense atmosphere at Wishing Well cottage

The atmosphere at the cottage has recently become quite tense, following the news of Samson Dingle's (Sam Hall) upcoming return. Samson was sentenced to four years in prison in August 2024 for perverting the course of justice.

After a horrific exchange at The Hide, Samson's troublesome friend, Josh Cope (Osian Morgan), notably pushed him into Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano), who happened to be holding a knife. But instead of telling the truth, Josh pressured Samson into falsely claiming that Matty stabbed him on purpose.

The lie resulted in Matty being wrongly sent to prison, where he lived in fear as a transgender man. After months of silence and mounting pressure from his family, Samson eventually confessed the truth to the police, leading to his arrest.

Moira's warning to Sam

After recently inviting Matty to live at the cottage, Moira has struggled to come to terms with Samson's upcoming release from prison. This has led to several arguments between Moira and Samson's stepmum, Lydia (Karen Blick).

During Friday's (October 16) episode, Matty decided to move out, as he didn't want to jeopardise Samson's return. He also urged his mum to try and forgive Samson, as he had done.

Moira later issued a warning to Samson's dad, Sam (James Hooton), saying: "If you still want Samson to come here, I won't stand in his way. But you need to understand, it won't be easy living with him after what he did to Matty... Cain's health is my priority, so if Samson causes him or Matty any additional stress, then you and me are gonna have a problem."

Fans share their concerns

After watching the tense scenes, some Emmerdale fans have shared their concerns for Moira. A number of viewers are convinced that Moira's brain tumour could be back, after noticing her "acting out of character" during her arguments with Lydia and Sam.

"Moira is really acting out of character. Hopefully she's not unwell again," one person wrote on a Facebook fan page. Another added: "I thought the same last night."

A third said: "I wondered if her tumour is back. They better not kill her off." Someone else echoed the sentiment: "Has her cancer returned? She has been acting strange recently."

Emmerdale airs weekday nights at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
