Country music icon Dolly Parton has died peacefully in Nashville at the age of 80 on August 25. At the time of her passing, her net worth was estimated to be between $450 million and $650 million.
The remarkable figure reflects the vast fortune she accumulated through her music, acting, songwriting, Hollywood film productions, as well as her numerous business and branding ventures.
Decades of chart-topping success
This extraordinary wealth stemmed from Parton's decades-long career as a country artist, which kicked off in the 1960s. The star amassed an impressive 41 top-10 country albums alongside 25 No.1 hit singles.

Parton also enjoyed considerable success on the big screen, featuring in such beloved classics as 9 to 5, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and Steel Magnolias, amongst others.
She further expanded her empire by moving into film production, establishing her own production company alongside longstanding business partner Sandy Gallin in 1986, Sandollar Productions. The company was behind titles such as Father of the Bride, Fly Away Home and the 1992 film Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
The Buffy film failed to make an immediate impact at the box office, though it subsequently gained cult status. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer television series (1997-2003) also went on to become a classic and continues to attract new generations of devoted fans to this day.

The musician is said to have played a "fundamental if often forgotten role" in bringing the show to the screen. In more recent times, she had been working on an Emmy-winning production deal with Netflix.
Throughout her career, Parton also launched countless additional business ventures. These included venturing into the beauty industry with her very own fragrance, Scent From Above. She also collaborated with baking giants Duncan Hines on a range of baking mixes. Amongst her most celebrated business pursuits, Parton also owned the East Tennessee amusement park, Dollywood.
The singer's passing was announced by her family through a video shared on social media by her nephew. The post confirmed that she had "died peacefully in Nashville." The precise cause of death has yet to be disclosed, though she had been battling a number of health issues in recent times, including bouts of dehydration, dizziness, and kidney stones, which led her to postpone both performances and travel commitments during her final year.
