Delta Goodrem 'Gutted' as Rib Injury Forces Strictly Exit

Delta Goodrem has been flooded with messages of love and support from her Strictly Come Dancing co-stars and fans after it was confirmed she will be unable to perform in the next live show of the 2026 series.

The singer and actress and her professional partner Kai Widdrington have topped the judges' leaderboard for the past two weeks and were given a score of 33 for their salsa on Saturday's (October 10) episode of the BBC series.

Injury Forces Rest

However, an injury has now prompted doctors to advise her to rest. Delta said in a statement, released on Monday (October 12): "I'm absolutely gutted that a rib injury means I won't be able to dance on Strictly this week. I've been loving every second of this experience, so having to sit this one out is heartbreaking – especially after the high of Saturday night. I cannot tell you how much I love being a part of this magical show."

She will now focus on rest and recovery and hopes to "be back on that dancefloor very soon". Delta thanked people for "all the love and support", adding: "I'll be cheering everyone on from the sidelines this week!"

Bye Through to Next Week

A Strictly spokesperson also said: "Due to injury, Delta Goodrem has been advised by doctors to rest and, as a result, will not dance on this weekend's Strictly Come Dancing. In line with the rules of the show, Delta and Kai will receive a bye through to next week, when it is hoped they will be able to dance again. We wish Delta the very best as she continues her recovery."

Judge Anton Du Beke said the Australian star was "setting a very high bar" this season, while Craig Revel Horwood called her performance "amazing".

Support From Co-Stars and Fans

As the news was shared, Delta's new Strictly co-stars, as well as fans, were quick to share their support. Amy Dowden said: "Sending all my love and well wishes." Lauren Oakely replied: "Get well soon. Can't wait to have you back @deltagoodrem @kaiwidd." Dani Dyer shared: "Sending you so much love delta and healing energy. We will see you soon." Graeme Hall wrote: "Speedy recovery @deltagoodrem … I'll have the custard creams ready for you."

@good.dancer2022 posted: "Really hope she has a speedy recovery as she is my favorite contestant of the series." @simplydeltagoodrem penned: "Noo, sending you lots of love and a speedy recovery. Can't wait to see you back on the floor." @kerryhollowayza added: "Oh no @deltagoodrem rest up and feel better soon. Been loving your dancing with Kai."
