Dec Donnelly jokingly declared he will 'sue' after he and Ant McPartlin were hit with a revelation about I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! ahead of its return to screens in just a matter of weeks.
It was back in December that viewers watched as Salford's own Angry Ginge was crowned the ITV reality show's latest King of the Jungle, following the 2025 run of the popular programme, in which a bunch of celebrities spend weeks in the Australian outback, competing to win food for themselves and their fellow campmates.
Record-breaking 2025 series
Despite having been on air for 24 years, last year's I'm A Celeb was a huge success for ITV, with the launch episode achieving a peak TV overnight audience of 7.3 million, averaging 6.6 million viewers across the 90-minute show. As well as that, the final vote was also the biggest vote in the show's previous decade of broadcasting, with over 13 million votes cast by fans.
Months on and fans are now preparing for the return of I'm A Celeb for 2026, but it was recently reported that the planned original start date of Sunday, November 15 has been pushed back due to ITV's coverage of the UEFA Nations League. England are due to play Spain in Madrid, with the kick-off of 8.45pm clashing with the reported start time for the reality series.
Theme tune discovery
But as we await news of when we'll be headed back Down Under, and who the latest campmates will be, Ant and Dec have joked they need to sue themselves after being informed of a surprising detail about the show's iconic theme tune.
During the latest episode of their podcast, Hanging Out with Ant and Dec, they told how one of their listeners had spotted a link between the drum-based theme tune and their own 1994 song, Tonight I'm Free (Cool Mix), which they released as PJ & Duncan.
"We have to play this, because we might sue ourselves," Ant said. After listening to their previously-released song, the pair were stunned and Dec exclaimed: "Right, someone is getting sued," before adding: "I'm going to sue… you!" Ant then replied: "Yeah, and I'm going to sue you, countersue, so we both win."
And while they may have wanted to take the credit, when a clip of the moment they discovered the similarity was shared on their podcast's Instagram page, their followers were quick to point out that the I'm A Celeb theme tune, composed by Grant Buckerfield, used samples of the 1975 song, Africano, by Earth, Wind & Fire and the 1989 song, Get Out Of The House! by Boom Crash Opera.
