Corrie's Lucy Fallon shares emotional co-star gesture after loss

Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon has shared the sweet, yet emotional, move by one of her co-stars after they had both been left suffering the same loss within months of each other.

Towards the end of last month, the Blackpool-born actress, who is famed for playing Bethany Platt in the ITV soap, which is filmed in Salford, shared the unexpected passing of her beloved dog, Sushi, in posts shared to her Instagram Story.

She confirmed the news by sharing pictures of the sweet Pomeranian to her Instagram Story, alongside which Lucy wrote: "Our lil sushi roll," before adding the dove, broken heart and mending heart emojis.

Co-star's own loss

Meanwhile, Lucy's Corrie co-star Tony Maudsley revealed in July that he was dealing with the grief of losing his beloved dog, Bosie. He took to Instagram at the time to share the sad news, saying the pooch's death occurred 'a few weeks ago', but that he couldn't bring himself to share the loss.

Confirming his passing, Tony, who plays George Shuttleworth in Corrie, told his followers: "Had to say goodbye to my Bosie a few weeks ago. Been a bit too heartbroken to share till now. He's always featured very heavily on my Insta posts, as you know. Saddest day of my life and I'll miss him terribly."

The former Benidorm star then revealed his tribute, sharing a picture of a portrait tattoo of Bosie. "But now thanks to the brilliantly talented brother of my telly sister Jodie, Marko Prenger at @handofhopetattoo, Bosie will now walk with me everywhere, sitting just above my ankle, forever," he explained.

Emotional gesture

It was then on Thursday (October 1) that Lucy returned to social media and shared how Tony had been showing her support following her loss. She shared a picture of a stone which had been engraved with Sushi's name and a pawprint, and told her followers: "My lovely friend has left this in my dressing room [heart with bandage emoji] @tonymaudsley1."

It comes after Tony shared how the Corrie crew wanted to share their own tribute to his beloved pet. Sharing a video from the show's undertakers set, the soap star panned his camera to show a photo frame featuring a picture of his beloved Bosie that had been through AI to give him angel wings in a heavenly setting.

Captioning the post, Tony explained: "No discrimination at Shuttleworth's. We look after ALL our dearly departed…however many legs they've got! Love our art department for doing this." Corrie co-star Georgia Taylor was quick to respond to the post, commenting: "Ah this is perfect."
