Coronation Street fans believe they have worked out what could be in Betsy Swain's future after they praised Carla Connor-Swain's kind gesture in the latest episode of the long-running ITV soap.
As viewers of the show, filmed in Salford, know, Betsy is recovering at home after suffering a stroke in scenes aired over the summer. The teenager was found on the kitchen floor of No.6 Coronation Street in July by Ryan Connor and was rushed to hospital, where doctors confirmed she had had a stroke.
Betsy's recovery continues
Betsy's condition appeared to stabilise before she had a second stroke, both of which were confirmed to have been caused by a blood clot, the result of neck artery damage from a temporary loss of circulation. When doctors spoke to Betsy about the cause, the teen had to explain to her mum, Lisa Connor-Swain, that her boyfriend Dylan Wilson had strangled her during consensual sex, despite both believing the pressure applied was minimal.
Betsy's recovery continues to be played out in the soap, and last week, after a few weeks' absence from screens, with the help of her physiotherapist, she was seen standing up for the first time since her stroke and attempted to take steps, leaving Lisa emotional. As the session took place, Carla arrived and was also delighted by the progress.
Carla's thoughtful gesture
It was scenes in Wednesday's (September 9) episode that viewers were talking about on social media. Dylan was seen visiting Betsy, telling her he couldn't feel any worse about what happened. Meanwhile, Sally Metcalfe was seen showing Carla a website for a fashion course at a local college, which might suit Betsy, and the touched Underworld boss said she would look into it. Later, she headed back to No.6, having gone to the college herself to pick up brochures.
Once home, she had a heart-to-heart with Betsy and told her: "You can either sit here vegetating in front of that telly, or we can make the best of things how they actually are. You can decide what you wanna do with the rest of your life. And that choice is yours."

The scenes left Corrie fans wondering if, one day, Carla will hand over Underworld to Betsy, as their mother-daughter bond continued to capture their hearts.
