Sam Blakeman at Risk in Coronation Street as He Requests to See Evil Megan at Trial
Coronation Street: Sam Requests to See Megan at Trial

Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) has made significant progress in his recovery from psychosis, but a new request could jeopardise his mental health in Coronation Street. The young teen, who was sectioned after a breakdown and diagnosed with schizophrenia, has asked his father Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) if he can attend the trial of Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon), the teacher who abused him.

Sam's Psychosis Breakdown and Hospitalisation

Sam spent weeks in a mental health unit after experiencing hallucinations of Roy Cropper (David Neilson) and Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale). He believed Will was out to get him after Sam exposed Megan's abuse. The crisis culminated in an incident at Roy's cafe, where Sam fled and was found by Carla Connor-Swain (Alison King), who recognised the signs of psychosis from her own experience. Nick drove Sam to hospital, where he was sectioned and diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Progress and a Risky Request

In upcoming episodes, Nick and Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) learn that Sam may be discharged by the end of the week. However, Sam reveals he wants to attend Megan's trial, believing it could help him move on. Nick worries about the potential setback. As the trial looms, Sam frets that Megan might be found not guilty and seek revenge, putting further pressure on Nick's decision.

Ben Price Praises Jude Riordan's Performance

Actor Ben Price previously praised Jude Riordan's portrayal of Sam. 'Selfishly, I want him to be brilliant, and he is brilliant. When you're with someone who's discovering that power as an actor, in an adult story, it's really amazing to watch,' Price said. He added that Riordan's transition from child actor to handling a complex adult storyline has been remarkable. 'We're very good at sitting down and going, "What do they need from the scene?" I remember we did an early scene where he lost it, and I said, "I think we go for this. I think we really go for it, because I think you're leading this now."'

The decision on whether Sam will attend court remains uncertain, with Nick torn between supporting his son's wishes and protecting his fragile mental state.
