Jeremy Clarkson has delighted fans by continuing his annual A-level results day tradition on social media, offering his usual words of reassurance to students who may not have achieved the grades they hoped for.
Clarkson's Annual Message
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) page, the former Top Gear presenter shared: "Don’t worry if your A level results are a bit disappointing. I got a C and two Us. And this evening I shall sit in my agreeable garden, drinking beer from my own brewery and eating food from my own farm. Prepared by my own chef."
The Clarkson's Farm host has made this an annual ritual, having started in 2015 with a post from a villa in St Tropez. In 2016, he tweeted from a superyacht in the Med, and last year he mentioned installing lights for a helicopter landing pad in his garden.
Results Day Statistics
Students across the country received their results on Thursday morning (August 13), with UCAS figures showing more than a quarter of a million leavers have secured an undergraduate place, up 3% on last year. Early statistics revealed that 9.6% of UK entries received an A*, with the overall pass rate (A* to E) at 97.5%, unchanged from last year. Boys outperformed girls by 0.9 percentage points in achieving A or A*, and maths remained the most popular subject for the 13th year in a row.
Prime Minister Andy Burnham congratulated students, saying: "I want to congratulate everyone receiving their results today. I know there will have been a mix of excitement, nerves and relief this morning, but you should all be proud of the hard work that got you here."
