BTS Opens AMAs with Energetic Performance, Sombr Wins First Award

The 52nd Annual American Music Awards commenced with an electrifying opening performance by BTS on Monday in Las Vegas. The South Korean boy band delivered a pre-recorded rendition of their track "Hooligan" from the Arirang World Tour, captivating the audience at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The seven members—Jin, J-Hope, Jungkook, RM, V, Suga, and Jimin—performed the upbeat song with characteristic energy.

Although the group was not physically present, host Queen Latifah thrilled fans by announcing their imminent arrival. "And if you think it's loud now, just wait. Because BTS is on their way right here, right now!" she declared, clad in a striking red leather jumpsuit. Latifah praised the "crazy" energy in the venue and noted that this year's show received "more votes than ever before" from fans and viewers.

Queen Latifah then introduced comedian Nikki Glaser, who presented the first award of the evening for Best Rock Alternative Song. The nominees included Noah Kahan, Sombr, Linkin Park, Sublime, and Tame Impala. Sombr, who earned seven nominations overall, secured the win for his track "Back To Friends." He took the stage enthusiastically to deliver an inspirational message to the audience.
