The Blue Cross, a pet charity that has been helping animals for more than 125 years, has released a list of the funniest and most unusual dog names its staff have come across.

Puddles is a fitting name for a dog that loves getting wet and muddy, so its inclusion is unsurprising. However, one owner named their dog Tarmac, which is a first for the charity. Other notable names on the list include Yoko, Peggy Sue, and Mumford, inspired by music and colour.

Pet owners have also shared their unconventional choices to encourage others to embrace 'extra whimsy' when naming their dogs. One Reddit user recalled a neighbour's overweight chihuahua named Snack Bar, which still makes them laugh.
