Blind Spaniel Harry Crowned UK's Most Deserving Dog

Harry, an 8-month-old blind Springer Spaniel who overcame substantial trauma, has been crowned the UK's most deserving dog by Pure Pet Food. The title was awarded following a nationwide search, with Harry selected as the Guest of Honour at the company's inaugural Pure Fest event.

Harry's Journey to Victory

Harry's extraordinary story made him the ideal candidate to celebrate at Pure Fest, where he experienced a full day of canine-friendly activities, delicious treats and considerable affection. The young dog received his nomination from his owner, Nicola, who recounted how Harry conquered substantial trauma following the removal of both eyes.

After the operation, Harry was initially petrified of venturing outside. However, through dedication and proper training, he has developed into an affectionate and remarkably courageous dog. Harry and his owners now revel in groundwork agility sessions together, which have helped build his confidence and obedience, ultimately enabling him to walk freely off the lead.

A Day of Celebration in Yorkshire

As Guest of Honour at the Yorkshire gathering, Harry was provided with a scavenger hunt, a Pure Pet Food station, Northern Bloc dog ice cream, puppuccinos, dog-friendly Yorkshire puddings, a collar-making station and professional canine photography. The occasion generated over £700 for Support Dogs, the charity responsible for training assistance dogs for individuals living with disabilities.

Nicola, Harry's owner, said: "Harry had an absolute ball as Pure Fest's guest of honour and loved getting involved in all the doggy activities. The Pure Fest team were so lovely and it was really special to see Harry receiving so much love and fuss. We travelled from Glasgow to Yorkshire but it was so worth it and felt incredibly special to be able to reward Harry and celebrate all the growth he has made."

Social Media Announcement and Reactions

Nicola also took to her TikTok account to announce Harry's victory, writing: "Harry won Pure Pet Food's Instagram competition and is going to be guest of honour at Pure Fest 2026. Harry and I are over the moon to have won. I must say, he is truly deserving of the opportunity! We are very excited for Harry to experience this day."

One follower responded: "A huge well done to both of you that is so deserved." While another chimed in: "Very well deserved Nic and Harry!"

Pure Pet Food's Vision for Pure Fest

Reflecting on Harry's triumph, Roz Cuschieri, Chief Executive Officer at Pure Pet Food, commented: "Dogs play such an important role in our lives, and we wanted to create an event that puts them firmly at the centre. This is our first Pure Fest and we've loved bringing together dogs and their owners for a day that celebrates everything we love about them, while also raising money for Support Dogs."
